We woke up in the desert after a night spent under a starry sky, where the silence and the beauty of the night seemed infinite. Sleeping under the stars offered us a moment of peace, a reconnection with nature, and awe at the vastness of the desert, where each star shone like a promise. In the morning, we watched the sunrise, a magical moment when golden light caresses the sand still cool from the night. The camels were resting, gathered near a stop, and a funny sign reminded us: Beware of camels! Then we enjoyed a royal breakfast in a breathtaking setting. I discovered karakti, a piping hot spiced tea infused with cardamom, ginger, cloves, and cinnamon, warming the body and awakening the senses.
We savored this feast at the “1000 Nights” hotel, a magical place in the heart of the desert, where luxurious tents blend with the golden sand, offering comfort, elegance, and an atmosphere straight out of One Thousand and One Nights.
Next, we enjoyed the desert pool, a moment of pure joy and laughter. The lounge chairs, mountains, sand, and camels on the horizon were all captured in photos to keep these memories forever.
We then took the road in our 4×4 vehicles, slowly leaving our camp to reach a Bedouin camp. The hospitality there was exceptional: warm welcomes, dates, and spiced coffee offered to us, and seating on cushions on the ground in a simple yet charming setting. A veiled woman wearing a traditional mask drew henna designs on the women’s hands, adding authenticity and beauty to our visit.
After this unique experience, we finally left the desert, taking with us the memory of the endless horizon.
The road led us to Sur, where we arrived safely for a sea-facing seafood lunch, which was absolutely delicious.
Finally, we reached our hotel and took a stroll through the souks, where colors and scents mingled in a whirlwind of life. The day ended at our hotel restaurant with a special moment: a large chocolate cake offered by James, to celebrate the birthday of Afsana, my little daughter, marking her new year in Brussel.
